Early Crash and Mechanical Problems For JJ Pack

MANSFIELD, OH (Oct 14th, 2006) – JJ Pack and the Packs Racing team qualified 19th for the Alan Kulwicki Memorial Sears Auto Center 250.

As the field took the green flag for the start of the race, the 16N UMG Financial Chevy got spun out.  “No caution came out at that point and we fell back to 36th position.”

JJ Made his way up through the field to 20th spot.  Most of the leaders had pitted at that point.  JJ came in to pit running in 5th spot.

By lap 60 JJ had the 16N Chevy in third position and stayed there for about 40 laps.

With 125 laps to go, JJ pitted with the leader.  The 16N came out of the pits in 26th position.  JJ fought his way up to 15th position.

With 7 laps to go and low on fuel, JJ brought the car into the pits for a splash and go.  Later the team found out that they had a fuel line to the carburetor lose and were losing fuel because of it.

With 4 laps remaining in the race, there was a pile up of cars in front of JJ and the 16N UMG Financial Chevy got collected in the accident and suffered the most damage as a result of the crash. The team went from running 15th to 29th in 1 lap.  JJ had to park the car.  “The 16N had a ruptured rear brake line and major front end damage, which ended the race for us.  I think today was our Friday the 13th.  I hate it for the team, but we will get ready for Mrytle Beach and hopefully our bad luck is behind us.” Said JJ Pack.
