JOLIET IL (8-30-05) - In preparation for
the upcoming September 10th SK Hand Tool 200 at Chicagoland
Speedway, Davin Scites along with 16 other ARCA RE/MAX Series
teams tested Tuesday afternoon on the 1.5-mile Joliet,
Illinois superspeedway. "We were pretty fast, we ran in the 32's
all day long. There were a few things we worked on to make the
car better. By the end of the session we put some sticker
tires on and went out and ran some qualifying runs. We ran a
31.78 and 31.80."
This was Davin Scites first time at the 1.5 mile track. "The
track and the facilities are awesome, the grandstands are
huge. The banking on the track really surprised me, I can see
why the speeds are so fast. Luckily the weather was perfect
for the tests and we got a full day of testing in."
"The first time on the track, slow was the way to go.
But each time we went out we progressively got faster. Each
time I learned more and more."
"I was glad to get the test in. The one thing that was
surprising is how stable the ARCA cars are. Getting used to
the car, the tires and the whole package was a learning
experience. Being in ARCA cars there is more horse power
than an ASA cars and you can feel it going down the
straightway."
"There are a few things to work on to make the car a little
better and then we will be set for the race." Commented Davin
Scites with his infectious smile.
The ARCA site has Davin Scites as 11th quickest at 32.590.
