Doug True To Run A Full Season In The Newly Acquired ASA/USPRO Cup  Series and Run For Rookie of the Year - Gallagher's Back as Sponsor for the 2004 Season

Doug True of True Motorsports is proud to announce that he will be running the 2004 full season of the ASA/USPRO Cup Series and running for rookie of the year.

Gallagher’s Wholesale Carpet will continue to be his sponsor the 2004 season. “We are very excited that Gallagher’s has decided to stay on board with us and move up to the US Pro Series” commented True.

Along with running the in the US Pro Series, Doug True and the team plan to run 10 outlaw races to allow them additional track time. Doug True is also looking to run the companion events in ASA.

ASA has reached an agreement with the Michigan-based ASA/USPRO Cup Cup Series that allows for ASA to assume controlling interest of the nearly two-year old racing series. ASA/USPRO Cup Cup is a Michigan based Super Late Model Series. The agreement will take effect following the conclusion of the 2003 season.

Plans call for the USPRO Cup to possibly be re-named using some form of the ASA Racing brand. The series is expected to conduct 12 to 15 events and will initially be in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin for it’s first season under the ASA banner. The events will see the series operate both as a stand-alone program and as a companion to the current nationally touring ASA Racing Series.

Officials are planning for 100-lap green flag races with a preference to not have competitors changing tires, adding fuel or having to use pit stops during the events. The cars will include makes from three major manufacturers – General Motors, Ford and Dodge. They will utilize template bodies and engines from all three. Additional announcements will be forthcoming finalizing rules and schedule for the 2004 season.

"We are still looking for associate sponsors to put on the car but we are fired up and excited to be able to race a full season in the newly acquired US Pro Series”, stated True.  Doug's wife Kim, along with his Mom and Dad, are his biggest fans and supporters. "With out my mom and dad doing this I probably never would have started in Racing." Doug stated.

True's Motorsports is a family tradition nearly 50 years in the making. The early 1950's saw brothers "Shorty" True and Guy "Stub" True competing neck and neck at most of the area's highly competitive tracks. The mid - to - late 1960's saw the beginning of the second generation of True's racing. Dave True has raced everything from open wheel modifieds to the stock bodied touring series of the ASA. After 3 decades of racing Dave has stepped aside to help son Doug race go-karts and now full bodied late models.
