Cecil Chunn Ready To Run in Craftsman Truck Series

Cecil Chunn a native of Franklin Tennessee is an up and coming driver with a hunger to race.  Cecil comes from a family immersed in racing and NASCAR History.  “I’ve wanted to be a race car driver since I could talk,” Cecil said.

Jerry Chunn, his father began working on Darrell Waltrip’s race car back in the 1980’s during Waltrip’s formative years in NASCAR.  He even moved his family to North Carolina when DW formed a Busch Grand National team and later worked with Bobby and Davey Allison, Winston Cup veteran Mike Alexander and famed Sims Brothers during the mid-80’s.  During this time Cecil watched his father work his mechanical magic for the Waltrip’s and the Alexanders.  “I used to go to Darrell’s garage and watch my dad work.  He was good at what he did and taught me the meaning of dignity and a hard work ethic.”

Chunn is excited to be in negotiations to drive for John Conely Jr. the owner of the #7 Craftsman Truck and Conely Engines, Inc.   The Conely’s have been in the automotive business since the 1920’s and started racing in the 1940’s. John Conely Jr has been in the racing business himself since the age of 10.

“I have the opportunity to be with a top Craftsman Truck team and I am very excited at the prospect of being a part of an up and coming championship team.”  Chunn also noted, “My primary goals are to be competitive and progressive.  I am committed to positively promoting the team and marketing partners both on and off the track to the highest degree.”   Cecil Chunn is currently in negotiations with corporate marketing partners and is looking forward to solidifying their contracts in the coming weeks for sponsorship in the Craftsman Truck Series.
