Speedboater Survives 180 MPH
Accident
It Destroyed The Boat, And Was Caught On
Tape; He Talked About It, On The Early Show
9-22-08 (CBS) Mark Workentine is
lucky to be alive.
The 32-yeart-old speedboat racer was in a practice run on San
Diego's Mission Bay Friday when he lost control of his craft,
and it flipped over and over and over, then completely
disintegrated. It was going 180 mph at the time. Only Workentine
survive the incident intact.
He was inside a capsule, which is what saved his life.
The whole thing was caught on tape, and Workentine and
Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith watched it as
they talked about it Monday:
